This week started with a holiday for the Deepavali or Diwali festival. Therefore I have colourful and beautiful festive photos of Diwali celebrations in Singapore and Malaysia.
I also want to share that I was featured on the Twinkl website as one of the featured bloggers. It was an honour for me as they admired my blogging journey in this multicultural city. Please check this post about the feature.
Coming back to today’s post, Diwali, the festival of lights, illuminates India with joy and vibrancy. Diwali is Celebrated by Hindus worldwide, and it is a festival in Singapore too. Diwali’s allure lies in its dazzling displays of diyas (oil lamps), colorful rangoli patterns, and vibrant firework spectacles that paint the night sky. Families come together, exchanging sweets and gifts, while homes sparkle with meticulous cleaning and vibrant decorations.
For this year’s Diwali holidays, we visited Malaysia Johor Bahru and captured some beautiful decorations. Therefore I have a glimpse of Diwali celebrations in Singapore and Malaysia.
Before the holiday, we were in Little India, and below are some of the moments captured during our visits. Little India was decorated for Diwali and the Indian Heritage Centre was the best place to witness this beautiful festival.
Little India – Singapore
Among the highlights of our visit was the Indian Heritage Centre, an oasis of cultural richness amid the Diwali celebrations.
Other than photo opportunities with props, there were activities in which kids could participate. Though we didn’t have much time for activities this year, last year we could participate in Diwali activities for kids.
Below card (the card with a pink flower) is a Diwali greeting. I found it among the decorations of my son’s Tamil Tuition. He said this card was done by him. So, I captured it. 🙂
Johor Bahru – Malaysia
Below are Diwali moments from City Square, Johor Bahru. The beautiful and colourful lanterns created a beautiful scene.
The radiant glow of these beautiful and colorful lanterns casts a magical aura, creating an ethereal scene that captivates visitors. As families and friends gather in the heart of the mall, the luminous ambiance fosters a sense of togetherness. The beauty of these lanterns transcends mere decoration, symbolizing the triumph of light and spreading the festive spirit throughout City Square Mall.
Everywhere, it was colourful!
Finally, below is a photo of our KFC meal that we enjoyed in Johor Bahru. This will qualify me to enter into T Tuesday blog event 🙂

The Diwali celebrations were fascinating to read about. Your son looks like he enjoyed the Indian Heritage Center. The entire experience looked bright, colorful, and cheerful. I can see why it would attract both young and old alike.
KFC is a great way to end the day. I drink and chicken looks wonderful and is making me hungry.
Thanks for taking me to the Diwali celebrations in Singapore and Malaysia, and sharing your food and drink with us for T this Tuesday, dear Amila.
I love those decorations. I love the colors. A holiday celebrating light is a good thing. Those big paper flowers under the candles look fantastic. While my part of the globe is getting dark and grey with winter, it’s good to know there is lots of color elsewhere. And congrats on being featured on Twinkl. I hope you are having or had a wonderful T day, and have a great week ahead also. hugs-Erika
Diwali is a beautiful feast. We have neighbours here who celebrate, too. BIG congratulations on your great honour for your blog, wow, that’s really fabulous. Well done. You can be proud of yourself. Happy T Day, Valerie

I’ve always wanted to celebrate Diwali ever since I saw an encyclopedia article on it when I was a child. I’ve never known anybody who observed it, though…
Happy T Tuesday!
The Diwali decorations are beautiful! I am very drawn to the colors and patterns of India. I enjoyed seeing the pictures from this the mall display.
Congrats on being featured. That is very exciting.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
This was so interesting, Amila. I love all the lights for Diwali and such brilliant colors. What a very beautiful feast.
The Diwali decorations are so colorful and vibrant. Your son made a beautiful card. Quite the artist. Happy Diwali and Happy T Day

We have a Hindu Cultural Center very near our house, so we became acquainted with Diwali after moving here and getting to enjoy their fireworks every year from our deck. It surprised us at first because we knew nothing about the festival. But we noticed this year they didn’t have fireworks. We’ve wondered if it’s because we’re currently under a Burn Ban in our state and maybe it was considered a fire hazard?
It’s fascinating how living near the Hindu Cultural Center introduced you to the vibrant celebration of Diwali with annual fireworks. The absence of fireworks this year might indeed be due to the Burn Ban, highlighting the cultural connections with environmental responsibility. Thanks for visiting my blog and sharing this insightful comment.
