We spotted a CleanPod in Singapore! It was during our recent nature walk to the Bishan Ang Mo Kio Park. Do you know what is a CleanPod?

What is a CleanPod?

CleanPods are storage rooms placed in some of the parks around Singapore in order to keep the cleaning tools. This concept is to help Singaporeans to keep the environment clean by borrowing the cleaning items such as metal tongs and trash bags for the job. Inside a CleanPod all these tools are stored. Therefore instead of purchasing new tools, people can use the tools from the CleanPod.

There are metal tongs for litter picking which can be used for cleanup activities. After the cleanup activity, users need to clean the tools and return back to the CleanPod. Then it is available for the next user.

Sounds good, right?

Undoubtedly Singapore is a clean and green city. However if any school or a community group arrange any clean up activity, these CleanPods are helpful to do it in a sustainable manner.Instead of purchasing new tools and discard after the event, these CleanPods encourage to reuse the tools.

CleanPods are located in some of the parks in Singapore including Bishan Ang Mo Kio Park, Changi Beach Park, East Coast Park and Pasir Ris Park.

We spotted the CleanPod at Bishan Ang Mo Kio Park and it is located near to the Allotment Garden. Other than its great purpose, this storage room is colourful and attractive with the graffiti around its walls.

Although we didn’t involve in any clean up activity on that day we also didn’t forget to bin our trash to the designated bins in the park.

  1. This is such a great idea! Many times schools don’t have the resources to get cleaning tools when they organise a day out in the park. Smart!

  2. What a brilliant idea and everyone wonders why Singapore is such an attractive place to visit. When I visited a few years ago it was definitely so clean.

  3. I love the concept, it’s easier to make the surroundings cleaner all the time. There’s no more excuses not to voluntary sweep up the road when it’s messed with leaves or whatever.
