In a previous post, I shared about Book Exchange Corner at the Public Library and how to use this community-driven exchange corner for donating used books. We use this facility to donate our books and we also pick some good books to read. Now, this post is about Woodlands Library Book Exchange Corner and our recent experience.
We love visiting the library and we are frequent visitors of the library in our neighborhood. But, this is about our library visit to the Woodlands Regional Library. I heard a lot of interesting things about Woodlands regional library as it is one of the kid-friendly libraries in Singapore. Yes, it is truly kid friendly and my child had a great time there. I will share those experiences in a later post. Till that, I thought I should share about the Book Exchange Corner at the Woodlands library as it helps others who love swapping books.
Before that, you may have noticed that I didn’t update this blog for a few weeks. It was due to workload and a few business trips. But, finally, I found time to sit and write a blog post about our recent adventures. 🙂
Last few weeks, my son prepared for a competition arranged as part of his cub scout activities. He had to create a movable car using recyclable materials. Below is his car made out of recyclable materials featuring 3Rs. Finally, he also received the Gold Award including participating badge as a cub scout. 🙂
After the competition, I thought it is good to spend time with him. First, we went to the nearby shopping mall. I bought some stationery and stickers for him to make him happy. Then, his favourite Bundung Drink. 🙂
For the lunch, we went to Woodlands, planning to meet my husband there. Till our wait, we thought it is good to visit the Woodlands Regional Library. It is located at the Woodlands Civic Centre. Woodlands library is kid-friendly and there was also an exhibition going on that spread awareness of protecting the environment. Before going inside the library, the first thing we noticed is the book exchange corner.
How to use the Woodlands Library Book Exchange Corner?
If you love swapping books or even sharing books with others, then book exchange corner is there for you. Simply, donate books to this exchange corner that are in good condition. After donating few books to the exchange corner, you can also get up to 3 books for you to read.
Remember not to leave religious books, annual reports, and textbooks in this corner.
NLB book exchange corners are community run. Make sure to keep the book rack organized as well. If you live in the Woodlands neighbourhood and if you have some books that are suitable to donate, then why don’t you donate those at Woodlands library book exchange corner? It will help others who love reading to find a good book! 🙂
We had a great time at the woodlands library. The child was happy as he could spend time in this kid-friendly library. On our return back for lunch, he also received these sweets as part of a promotion. I thought of taking a photo as my child was happy with what he received. 🙂
How was your week? Please share your thoughts as a comment below. 🙂

I love the idea of a book exchange corner in a library. It’s such a great way to encourage children to read too :o)

The book exchange is such a great idea.
It sounds like you have been busy. Well done to your son with his car, it looks fantastic. x
What an amazing idea, I’d love to swap some of my books that my kids have grown out of. I love your boy’s car too, how imaginative.

I’m for anything that encourages reading. I love the idea of a book exchange. #MMBC
Such a wonderful opportunity to have this book exchange available for the kids.
Loved your son’s project for the scouts-and his drink looks refreshing.
Happy T wishes Kathy
I love your son’s car Amila. It’s exciting to see all the recycled materials he used, and I’m glad he did so well and got his badge. And we have little libraries like that in some places, but none near me. But I haven’t seen a lot of children’s libraries and that’s a great idea. Also, last week Elizabeth shared for our T day anniversary swaps and you are my partner. If you send me your snail mail address at my email I can reply with my address too. Have a wonderful T day. hugs-Erika
What a great movable car using recyclable materials your son made. What fun! His bundung drink looks good, but I don’t know about that name! LOL Lovely post. Happy T Day.
This is a great post. Here in the US where states are banning books in schools and in libraries, it’s nice to see a book exchange. Your son’s project is brilliant. A smart young man. Have a lovely evening.
A book exchange is always a great idea. We have a little one here in our town in an old telephone booth, I have donated a lot of books there. Glad you were able to spend some quality time with your son, congrats on the gold medal, he is very talented. Have a great week, hugs, Valerie
Your son is a genius. I love that everything on that car was recycled. He definitely deserved a gold medal for his efforts. Just wonderful.
That library is great. I like how they restrict books to anything family friendly. And the books he takes and reads can be returned to the library afterward for others to enjoy and appreciate. Just a great effort and way to get children interested in reading, too. Thanks for taking us to that library and even better, thanks for sharing your son’s car with the water bottle for T this Tuesday, dear Amila.
While you were gone, I paired you with Erika for the Anniversary Swap. Here is her blog address:

I haven’t been to the library in a long time… years.. Libraries have changed so much and i cannot say i like the changes at least where i have been.. The book exchange is such a great idea! I think your little man had a great time! Happy T day! Hugs! deb
The book exchange corner is a great idea.
Here, we have many “little libraries” in front of private homes. They are all over the place and a great resource. I got a few books from there and donated even more.
What a very cool project your son finished! Well deserved price.
It reminds me of our Little Free Libraries here. Some of our libraries have used books for sale, but I’m unaware of anything like this cool!
Happy belated T Tuesday!
A book exchange for children. That is a good idea.
Your son did a great project. What a brilliant idea to use CDs! Well done!
Happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
This looks like such a great place to visit – Thanks for sharing and linking up with #MySundaySnapshot.
The book exchange is a fab idea. We have a few telephone boxes scattered around the villages converted into book booths that the locals use to swap books with each other.
A big well done to your son on earning his gold award and his car is brilliant!
Have a lovely week. 🙂
The Book Exchange Corner sounds like a wonderful idea. It’s a great way for people to share books with each other. Congratulations to your son on his fabulous car made from recycled materials! Thank you for sharing this post in the Talent-Sharing Tuesdays Link-Up 58.
