Today we spent few hours making some simple items for New Year celebrations. This year my son is 2 years old and he enjoys celebrations. Few months ago we celebrated his 2nd Birthday, although he didn’t have much idea on his simple birthday party on the day we celebrated, he started imaginary playing with birthday parties after few weeks of the party. So, that time I decided to do some activities focusing him for the New Year.
Today, 31st of December, I told him about the New Year. He understands it is something to celebrate and he is ready to welcome the New Year with his soft toys.
This is a simple party hat we both made. Although it is easier to buy party hats, DIY items are always good to engage with a toddler. So, I decided to spend few minutes and to create this New Year Party hat.
We used simple supplies which we found at home.
Things needed:
• cardstock paper
• tape
• stapler
• glue stick
• scissors
• Pen
• Paper punch as required
First we made confetti using colourful strips of paper. You can also use a paper punch to make circles to add to the collection of confetti.
I used an A4 size paper for the party hat.
First I wrote the greeting ‘Happy New Year’.
We decorated this paper using the confetti.
Then I used tape and staple to make a cone using the decorated paper.
Finally cut the edges of the party hat and make it round shape.
It is really simple and easy.
This is a few minute project to make a toddler happy when they are bit bored.
My son decided to use the party hat on his teddy bear. 🙂
And,Teddy is ready to welcome the New Year 2016!
Happy New Year 2016!
This is a very easy project… easy enough for the kids to it themselves!
Happy 2016 Amila!
What a cute idea, and so perfect for a toddler! I love that he gave it to his teddy. 🙂 Thanks for visiting #HomeMattersParty!
